Unesa 5 Magetan Students Are Turning into "Literacy Influencers"
MAGETAN – Who says the younger generation only cares about scrolling through social media? On April 23, 2026, a wave of fresh energy hit the PSDKU Unesa 5 Magetan campus. Forget the old-school image of dusty libraries; 85 students from the English Department (Class of 2025) just proved that being a "Literacy Mover" is the next big flex!
The event, titled "Building a Literacy Culture," was more than just a lecture. It was a high-energy movement initiated by a visionary lecturer, Suyanti Fatma Umayfa, S.S., M.A. She invited the renowned literacy activist, Satria Dharma, to share his insights on why reading and writing are actually the ultimate "life hacks" for the modern world.
This initiative isn’t just a local campus activity, it is a direct contribution to SDG 4: Quality Education. By fostering a culture of reading at the university level, Kampus Unesa is empowering students to become agents of change. The goal is simple but powerful: to turn these students into "Literacy Influencers" who will go back to schools and homes to inspire younger kids to pick up a book. The mission was clear: understand the importance of reading, plant those roots in schools, and take direct action to help the community.
The program was organized through a collaborative effort between the Prodi (Department) and the PSDKU Magetan management. The atmosphere was electric as Satria Dharma challenged the students to see themselves not just as learners, but as leaders.
The success of the session was so visible that it’s already sparking a "literacy fever" across the campus. The lecturers was so impressed by the students' enthusiasm that they are already planning to go bigger.
By connecting literacy with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Unesa is proving that education is the key to a better future. These 85 students are now ready to hit the ground running, bringing a "literacy revolution" to schools across the region.
