UNESA-5 Magetan Holds 2024 Research and PKM Audit: A Step Toward Continuous Quality Improvement
Magetan, 14 November 2025 — Universitas Negeri Surabaya
Campus 5 (UNESA-5) in Magetan successfully conducted its first-ever Research
and Community Service Program (PKM) Audit via Google Meet on Friday, November
14, 2025. This audit serves as a pivotal moment for the English Literature
Program at UNESA-5, which was newly established in 2024, marking a significant
milestone in enhancing academic and administrative quality.
The audit aimed to thoroughly review the administrative
documents related to research and PKM activities for the year 2024. This
included the completeness of reports that are required to be uploaded through
the simutu.unesa.ac.id system. The audit evaluated faculty research reports,
documentation of PKM activities, and the consistency of supporting evidence
uploads according to the faculty and university’s quality standards. This
process is crucial to ensure that the program aligns with academic expectations
and that quality assurance measures are firmly in place.
The audit was carried out by Rizky Putra Santosa, M.Si., an
auditor from the Badan Penjaminan Mutu (BPM), representing the Quality
Assurance Unit of the Faculty of Psychology. Suyanti Fatma Umayfa, M.A., the
Head of the English Literature Program, expressed her appreciation for the
audit, emphasizing its importance for the department’s continuous improvement
in the field of research and PKM activities.
“We are grateful to BPM for providing comprehensive guidance
and audit support. This audit is a momentum for the English Literature Program
to continuously improve, especially in research and PKM—core pillars of our
university’s Tri Dharma,” said Suyanti Fatma Umayfa.
The audit focused on assessing the administrative documents
related to research and PKM in 2024. Specifically, it scrutinized whether the
activities were properly reported and whether they complied with the
established standards of quality within the faculty and university.
This audit is significant because it marks the first such
evaluation for the English Literature Program at UNESA-5, which only began in
2024. The audit helps identify areas for improvement, setting a solid
foundation for future progress and alignment with university standards.
During his presentation, Rizky Putra Santosa highlighted the
critical role of maintaining a consistent quality culture within every program.
He stressed that audits are not only about evaluation but also serve as tools
for continuous guidance and improvement.
Several key points were raised that require attention and
correction, including: The need for a clear analysis of PKM outcomes in line
with the program’s standards and roadmap; Ensuring that PKM activities directly
contribute to educational goals and have measurable impacts on teaching and
learning over the past three years; Requiring PKM team members to possess
methodological expertise tailored to the field, activity type, and complexity; Ensuring
PKM activities are aligned with three main aspects: target objectives,
schedule, and planned duration; Ensuring that PKM activities contribute to the utilization
and development of knowledge or technology; The need for proper university
approval for the use of related facilities for activities, ensuring the
program's relevance to learning processes and community development; PKM
facilities must meet four key aspects: safety, health, comfort, and security
for all involved, including community members and the environment.
These evaluations aim to improve operational procedures and
align the program with best practices in research and community service,
ensuring that it adheres to the university’s quality standards.
SDGs Integration in the Audit Process
This audit supports SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10
(Reduced Inequalities) by ensuring that the research and PKM activities of the
program adhere to quality standards. It highlights the importance of ensuring
equal access to quality education and a fair, inclusive academic environment.
The audit also encourages continuous development within the program, ensuring
that its impact extends beyond academics into the community and social realms.
By maintaining strict adherence to quality standards, UNESA-5
is contributing to SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities),
aiming for academic excellence, fairness, and inclusivity within the
institution and the larger society.
Looking Ahead
As the English Literature Program at UNESA-5 continues to
grow, the feedback from this audit will serve as a catalyst for continuous
improvement. The BPM will continue to guide the program, ensuring that all
administrative practices meet the high standards required for academic and
social impact. Moving forward, the department plans to leverage the audit
results to enhance student learning experiences, increase community
involvement, and improve the quality of research conducted within the program.
By aligning research and PKM activities with global
educational standards and SDGs, UNESA-5 is well on its way to becoming a
leading force in producing graduates who are not only academically proficient
but also equipped with the skills to make a meaningful impact on society.
This audit marks another step in the journey for UNESA-5
Magetan, ensuring the program continues to uphold high standards while
contributing to the broader mission of quality education and inclusive growth.
