Roadmap of English Literature Study Program at UNESA 2024-2029: Developing Quality and Sustainable Education
Magetan, 2024 — The English Literature Program at Universitas
Negeri Surabaya (UNESA) Campus 5 has launched an ambitious research roadmap and
agenda for the period 2024–2029. Responding to the challenges of the times and
aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this agenda emphasizes
the importance of in-depth scientific development and its relevance to the
global community.
The English Literature Program at UNESA has established a
Research Roadmap that focuses on four main clusters: Linguistics, Literature
& Popular Culture Studies, Literacy & Literacy Practices, and
Language-based Entrepreneurship. Each cluster aims to improve the quality of
education and research that addresses global challenges in language mastery,
culture, and digital media. This research agenda also supports the development
of specialized skills such as discourse analysis, literary studies, academic
writing, and translation.
This research agenda is not only designed to produce new
knowledge but also to realize the vision of developing graduates who are
analytically capable, have global perspectives, and can contribute to the
advancement of science and community empowerment. Furthermore, this research is
also oriented toward achieving the SDGs, specifically SDG 4 (Quality
Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality). In this
way, the English Literature Program at UNESA is committed to producing research
that supports the formation of an inclusive and equitable society.
Under the leadership of Lisetyo Ariyanti, S.S., M.Pd.,
Program Coordinator, the English Literature Program is fully responsible for
the preparation and implementation of this roadmap. The research involves
faculty members, students, and collaboration with various institutions, both
national and international, to ensure the research produces beneficial and
relevant results.
The research is carried out at UNESA Campus 5, Magetan,
utilizing modern facilities such as linguistics laboratories, film screening
rooms, digital libraries, and creative media labs for content production. These
facilities support various research activities focusing on language analysis,
literary studies, and the development of language-based entrepreneurship.
This research agenda is set to span five years, from 2024 to
2029, focusing on the development of research in each cluster according to the
established roadmap. Each year, research will focus on contemporary topics that
support the achievement of Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL), which are
integrated with global and societal needs.
Each research cluster has a clear focus and agenda, ranging
from digital media discourse analysis, gender studies in literature and film,
to digital literacy development. Using discourse analysis software, digital
literacy labs, and mini-studios for content production, this research
emphasizes the application of the latest theories in linguistics, literature,
and language-based entrepreneurship. Researchers are expected to develop
language-based business models, such as storytelling for village tourism and digital
creative writing for regional branding.
With a research roadmap focused on enhancing education quality and contributing to society, the English Literature Program at UNESA is ready to produce globally competitive generations while playing an active role in advancing inclusive and sustainable education. Through research rooted in the SDGs, this program demonstrates its commitment to creating a broad positive impact in the field of education and society.
